I also didn’t understand these recs at first. There’s not really anything that sounds like this tho. Have you heard his home recorded demos of these tunes? I think those recordings capture the pink moon vibe. Especially the home made day is done. So sad.
Long-time subscriber (tho not through this particular substack account! (Got on board b/c of your comments on Spotify and the music industry.) I know it's an inconvenience, but uh, Substack is kind of continuing to run Nazi content, promote Nazi content, and leverage other newsletters for cover (https://theracket.news/p/substack-s-extremist-ecosystem-is-flourishing) Any chance you could switch at some point?
I’ve looked and will continue to look at alternatives. I have also joined other writers here and complained directly to Substack’s directors about these editorial decisions. You might have noticed that my music is still on streaming platforms, while I work to make those platforms more equitable and build power with other musicians. But I did leave Twitter when it became X…
Thanks much for your efforts! As a reader, I have no real insights into the different levels of service and affordability offered by Ghost, Buttondown, Beehiiv (or others?) relative to Substack. But obviously it has some real juice relative to the others, because if remains the Goliath despite the nazi issues. I appreciate that the problem is real for writers and wish there was more I could do about it.
Thanks for your note. The big difference with all the services you mention is that they charge fees for hosting - while Substack takes only a percentage of money earned, like Bandcamp. For someone with very few subscribers the fees are not high - for someone with very many paying subs the fees are affordable - for those in the middle, well, as in so many other parts of the economy, we’re screwed.
Thanks for listening to and reporting on this box set, Damon. Not sure I'll get to it, but I certainly want to see "Ninotchka"!
Lovely, Damon. I especially like being able to imagine your ears growing into these albums as your and Naomi's work spread its wings.
Did you ever listen to this?

Emil Amos from Grails with Pat Sansone and Jonah Bayer on Nick Drake (there's a part 2 as well).
I haven’t - thanks for the tip!
i interviewed engineer John Wood a while back and he told me about the demo tape: https://tapeop.com/interviews/163/john-wood
A great interview!
Really enjoyed this review. I like how the artist’s final vision is celebrated.
