Man, so true. I’ve been wondering out loud why there hasn’t been any backlash against the raising of Spotify/streaming monthly fees, without ANY of it going to artists. No one has even complained. If only to raise awareness in the average music consumer. We just take it, because we’re too busy fighting for the scraps left, instead of working together, sharing fan bases, and creating musical community instead of competition. Any ideas of how to raise awareness??? Also, the continued decrease in the ability for independent artists to reach fans because of throttling of algorithms and content on social media seems to be getting worse- with those avenues dying- what’s left to even get someone out to a show or over to bandcamp to sell something??
I had no idea about the law regarding forming a union. Nutso. I understand that in order to represent as a union, you have to be a "legally recognized" union. But now you're telling me there is no way to form such a legally recognized entity? Can't get my mind around that..... Meanwhile, yeah, Matana Roberts!
